Book Summary
 
"The world was burning in fire and fading in plague. Doctors promised salvation in the form of an Ai-assisted medical device. A “miracle of science,” that would detect and override decay to do what nature could no longer sustain on its own. In theory it would integrate with the body’s central nervous system and become one with the patient. 
     In the end, it was their cure that damned us all. 
     Now in 2086 the world belongs to the Reborn–the race of enhanced humans controlled by the neural device that promised salvation but brought annihilation. The last remnants of humanity cling to survival, scattered and hunted. They pray for death over capture, because once you’re taken, there's no coming back. The vital link doesn’t just control the body, it erases everything within that once made you human. 
      Except for me. 
      Pulled from the wreckage of a downed helicopter as the sole survivor, I should be dead. But a wound still bleeds where the device was ripped from my neck, an impossible procedure that no one has ever survived. Yet, I breathe.
