We know what it means to spend months in hospital halls, and we’re here to bring a little magic to those long days.
Our son Michael spent the first years of his life in and out of hospitals, facing surgery after surgery. In those long, scary months, the one thing that brought him comfort was having books read aloud at his bedside. Books became the heart of his therapies and gave him the determination to learn to use his arms, which are missing muscles due to a condition called Arthrogryposis.
Michael just celebrated his 10th birthday. For us it is a monumental achievement. Doctors told us during my pregnancy that because of his condition he would more than likely pass away before birth. He has defied the odds against him and has grown into a happy little boy. While his list of diagnosis has never stop growing, neither has his determination, or his love for books.
This year we want to spread some of that joy to other sick and disabled children currently inpatient at our local children's hospitals.
